Establish Good Dental Habits
It’s been said so many times before, but the fact remains-children learn by example, and parents lead by example. Whether you’re trying to get your child to better understand the concept of respecting others, attempting to help them become more responsible or otherwise, children learn by watching their parents and other family members. With this in mind, developing healthy habits come from being in an environment where those habits are regarded as normal parts of everyday life. When it comes to establishing a consistent and solid dental routine, your child is far more likely to adopt this into their daily routine if doing so is something that everyone else in your household does. Whether this means establishing a specific time of day or night where everyone brushes their teeth, you find a way to help remind your child of this, or you find a way to make the process more fun and memorable, having a consistent dental routine every day is arguably the most important thing that anyone can do to maintain healthy teeth.
Make it an activity and brush your teeth with your child. Remind them to brush their teeth before you send them off to bed. Whatever it takes to help your child establish a consistent daily dental routine will help them both in the short and long term. They’ll have a far more pleasant and easy experience at their next dental checkup, and they’ll be less likely to encounter dental issues later on if they keep up with these good habits.
Piercings Can Be Problematic
Many kids get their ears pierced at a young age, and doing so is incredibly common among kids during their preteen years. During preteen years, however, kids begin to form their own personal style and identities, and in some cases, children become interested in other piercings. While things like lip piercings can appear to be stylish and fashionable, what many kids don’t realize this that piercings in the mouth area can be hazardous to their overall dental health. Whether they choose to pierce their tongue or lip, piercings like these can very easily get infected if not properly taken care of. Piercings like these becoming infected can come with a whole different set of challenges, and the best way to avoid this from happening is to avoid oral piercings entirely. Additionally, these can break and very easily damage teeth or worse.
